Principles
1. Develop People First, Players Second
Baseball is the tool -character is the mission. I coach to build young men who compete with integrity, lead with confidence, and treat others with respect. When you build solid people, the on-field performance always follows.
2. Tell the Truth, Coach with Purpose
Players deserve honesty, clarity, and direction. My approach is straightforward: be direct, hold them accountable, and make sure they know you’re in their corner. Growth requires challenge, and challenge requires trust.
3. Effort and Attitude Are Non-Negotiable
Talent comes and goes. Work ethic, resilience, and consistency are what separate good players from great ones. I expect athletes to own their habits, show up prepared, and compete with purpose every day.
4. High Standards Create High Outcomes
Culture isn’t a slogan -it’s the daily behaviors, choices, and expectations that drive a team. I build environments based on respect, discipline, communication, and team-first thinking. Players rise to the level of the standard, not the level of the moment.
5. Teach the Game, Don’t Just Run Drills
Understanding the “why” behind actions builds smarter, more confident competitors. I focus on baseball IQ, situational awareness, and helping players think the game on their own. A prepared mind plays faster.
6. Development Over Early Results
Youth sports should be about the long game, not the weekend scoreboard. My priority is helping players progress physically, mentally, and emotionally so they’re ready for the next level -whenever it arrives.
7. Compete Hard, Stay Humble
Play with intensity, win with class, lose with maturity. The game has a way of humbling everyone, and athletes who respect the process always get better.
8. Lead by Example
Coaching isn’t just instruction- it’s mentorship. I strive to model composure, consistency, and character so players see what leadership looks like, not just hear about it.
9. Build Meaningful Relationships
The greatest impact comes from connection. Players grow when they feel seen, supported, and understood as individuals. Strong relationships form the foundation of strong teams.
10. Always Learn, Always Evolve
Great coaches never stand still. I stay curious, study the game, and adapt my methods to meet the needs of today’s athletes. Growth doesn’t stop at the foul line -it applies to coaches, too.
