Defensive Coordinator – Santa Margarita Catholic High School

A native of Orange County and proud product of Fountain Valley High School, Steve Fifita brings elite playing and coaching experience to his role as Defensive Coordinator at Santa Margarita Catholic. A standout defensive lineman at the University of Utah, Fifita helped anchor the Utes’ historic 2004 team that finished 12–0 and won the Fiesta Bowl.

After college, Fifita spent time with the Miami Dolphins — including a full season on the active roster — and participated in NFL training camps with both the Dolphins and New England Patriots.

Following his playing career, Fifita began coaching as the defensive line coach at Idaho State, where he developed a passion for mentoring young athletes. Known for his energy, toughness, and connection to his players, he now leads Santa Margarita’s defense with the same intensity and discipline that defined his career.

With deep roots in Southern California and high-level experience on both sides of the game, Coach Fifita is committed to building elite defenses and helping young athletes reach their full potential — on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
