Shane McComb is a proven program builder and culture-driven leader with head coaching experience across multiple states. A former collegiate player at Upper Iowa University, McComb has built his career on structure, accountability, and a commitment to developing young men on and off the field.
Before arriving in Alabama, McComb spent seven seasons as head coach at Palm Desert High School in California, where he transformed the program into one of the most consistent winners in the region. Under his leadership, Palm Desert captured six consecutive district championships and compiled a dominant 33–2 conference record over a six-year span. His success was rooted not in gimmicks, but in process — clear expectations, defined roles, and alignment from administration to coaches to players and parents.
In 2023, McComb was named head coach at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Embracing the challenge of competing in one of the toughest classifications in the state, he implemented his “One Unit All In” philosophy — a commitment to unity, accountability, and doing everything together. He placed heavy emphasis on year-round development, the weight room, and building a balanced, disciplined football team that plays hard and understands the details.
After the 2025 season, McComb transitioned to Prattville High School, where he now serves as Associate Head Coach and Safeties Coach. In this role, he continues to impact programs through leadership, defensive development, and culture-building experience.
Throughout his journey — with coaching stops in Illinois, New Mexico, California, and Alabama — McComb has remained grounded in his belief that successful programs are built on clarity. Everyone must understand their role, the standard, and the daily commitment required to achieve it.
Coach McComb’s approach is simple but powerful: set the expectation, demand the work, build unity, and develop young men who are prepared for life beyond football.
